Playing with our Food

Students will go through each step of the discovery & engineering process to produce finished products that reflect values of play, collaboration, and imagination. Students will work with different fruits, vegetables, and shapes to create a new “toy” or 3-D shape the represents their favorite thing.

Course Outcome
Kindergarten will answer the following question in this unit: How can we, as learners, create ways to make playing with our food fun and demonstrate our understanding of using parts to create a whole? Afterwards, students will have a design challenge to showcase their understanding of the tools and proper kitchen etiquette learned throughout the quarter: ● Make a toy using food (toy train, toy plane, toy boat, etc. using fruits, veggies, toothpicks, etc,) ● Make a silly/fun design that shows your favorite thing.
